At chosen moments he raised his saxophone and emitted brief blasts, or spattered fragments, or made jolting intervallic leaps, or trilled maniacally. Sometimes what he played coalesced into long singing lines so strangely exhilarating they made you think of\u00a0Ornette Coleman.
